Philips Unveils World's First 36-Inch 260 Hz Ultrawide Monitor
Philips has announced the world's first 36-inch ultrawide gaming monitor, stepping beyond the conventional 34-inch footprint while delivering a rapid 260 Hz refresh rate tailored for competitive PC players.
Breaking away from standard 34-inch ultrawides
For years, standard ultrawide panels settled almost exclusively on 34 inches as the default sweet spot. Philips is shifting that dynamic by introducing a 36-inch form factor paired directly with a 260 Hz refresh rate.
While an extra two inches measured diagonally might look minor on a spec sheet, it expands both horizontal peripheral vision and vertical height significantly in racing simulations and cockpit-based games. Maintaining high frame rates on wide screens takes capable hardware, and competitive rigs running recent setups—or budget builders using fixes like enabling Resizable BAR on older motherboards without BIOS mods—can actually put that 260 Hz ceiling to good use.
Philips 36-inch 260 Hz ultrawide: confirmed specs
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Screen size | 36 inches |
| Form factor | Ultrawide |
| Refresh rate | 260 Hz |
| Target segment | Gaming |
Ultrawide panels typically cap out around 144 Hz or 175 Hz, with very few going past 240 Hz. Squeezing 260 Hz onto an uncommon 36-inch diagonal offers a tempting middle ground for players who want a single fast display instead of dealing with dual-monitor bezels.
Availability and pricing
Philips has not yet announced official retail pricing or specific rollout windows for North American and European markets. Regional availability details are expected alongside the disclosure of panel resolution and port configurations.
A 36-inch footprint running at 260 Hz delivers a compelling alternative for gamers wanting expansive FOV without sacrificing high-frame-rate fluidity. Full specs, including panel resolution and response times, should clarify how competitively it sits against existing options.
